God Winks and Synchronicities

It started in 2019 in a big way.

A tangibly answered prayer that shifted my perspective and got my attention.

Synchronicities are little moments of coincidence that feel like a nod from the universe that you are on the right path. Or a split second that makes you feel that we are all more connected than we think; like thinking of a friend and then receiving a text from them.

I also call them God Winks.

In 2019, I had been out of work for three years and was really yearning to get back into the corporate world.

At that time, I would often go to a spin class near The Waterway in The Woodlands. There is a little Starbucks right next to it on the corner.

One grey and freezing day in January, I finished a class and bumped into an old colleague of mine as we were both grabbing a warm cup of coffee to go. Terry told me that he had just started working for a startup that our old boss founded.

When God answers a specific prayer, immediately.

Fast forward three months, it’s now the end of March. I’m still constantly thinking of going back to work and I had not seen or thought about Terry since that day in January.

After class, I decided to go for a run along The Waterway. As I am listening to music and spotting ducks, Terry and this company drop into my mind out of nowhere.

I can’t fully explain it, but I felt pulled toward this company. So, I prayed very specifically for the first time in my life:

“God, if this is your path for me, when I finish this run and walk into Starbucks, Terry will be there.”

And wouldn’t you know it.

As I swung open the door, there he was.

Not only was Terry in the coffee shop, but he also informed me that our boss was in town from London and invited me to their meeting to say hi.

Within a month I was on the payroll.

Peace that follows an answered prayer

I loved the peace I felt starting that new chapter of life, knowing it was aligned with God’s plan for me. It was my first tangibly answered prayer or major synchronicity, and it caused me to start paying more attention.

Do you know how when you get a new car you start seeing it all of the time? Once I was attuned and paying attention, the synchronicities started piling up.
